• Local or general anesthesia based on the case
• Injecting tumescent (wetting) solution
• Small incisions made in the skin to insert thin, blunt tubes called cannulas
• Cannulas target fat pockets and suction out fat via vacuum action
• A compression garment must be worn post-surgery to help with swelling and skin retraction

Common Liposuction Techniques:

1. Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL)

• The traditional method using vacuum suction to remove fat

2. Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

• Uses a vibrating cannula to speed up fat removal

3. Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)

• Ultrasonic energy melts and loosens fat for easier removal
• Effective for dense fat, larger areas, and male patients

4. VASER Liposuction

• A form of UAL using ultrasonic cannulas with grooves
• Offers better fat disruption , skin retraction and smoother results

5. Laser-Assisted Liposuction (LAL)

• Includes SmartLipo, SlimLipo, etc.
• Uses laser energy to liquefy fat cells for a less traumatic extraction

Recovery and Aftercare

• Swelling, soreness, and bruising for the first few weeks is normal
• Fluid drainage from incision sites may occur
• Avoid bathing or swimming for at least 72 hours post-surgery
• Wear compression garments for 10 to 12 weeks
• Return to normal activity in 6–7 days, strenuous exercise only after medical clearance
• Follow all post-op instructions for safe healing
